Nga Tawa’s Riding School is open to the public to meet a growing demand for riding lessons.

Learn to Ride is an 8-week programme. Lessons take place every Sunday morning at 9am and 10.30am for groups of 4-6 riders. These will be run in two arenas, with ponies and gear provided. There is flexibility for those who have their own horse or pony to take them along.

A resident Nga Tawa Equestrian Academy coach will take each lesson. Riders will learn how to manage, care for and ride depending on their level of experience. Skills participants will have learned at the conclusion of the programme include grooming; tacking/gearing up; mounting up; riding safety; how to walk and trot; canter and jump (depending on skill level) and after ride care.
