Performing Arts includes Music (of all genres), Speech and Drama and Dance. At Nga Tawa girls are encouraged to take part in their chosen area of Performing Arts interest and further develop their skills and performing opportunities. We have a dedicated Speech and Drama itinerant teacher who works with girls towards their New Zealand Speech Board examinations. Students regularly obtain excellent results with a good number continuing on to Associated Trinity College of London diplomas in their final year. Music students who take weekly lessons are encouraged and supported to sit their NZMEB, ABRSM or Trinity College practical and theory examinations. We have girls who regularly take dance lessons with local teachers and we facilitate on site lessons for additional dance styles such as hip hop.
The ultimate showcase of the Performing Arts at Nga Tawa are our regular soirees which give girls valuable performance opportunities and the local community a very enjoyable evening. The 2016 Nga Tawa production - 33 Variations incorporated all Performing Arts areas of learning. The play received excellent reviews and the girls who featured in the play were of a very high performance standard.
