Equestrian Coach & Yard Coodinator 

Full-time position 

The Nga Tawa Equestrian Academy is on the hunt for a full-time Equestrian Coach and Yard Coordinator to join our team.

Our much-loved Equestrian Coach is heading home to be closer to family, and while we’ll miss her greatly, we’re excited to welcome someone new to continue her fantastic work with our riders. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of New Zealand’s leading school-based equestrian programmes, working with motivated young riders in a busy, supportive environment.

About the Role:

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of our equestrian facilities and supporting the development of our riders through both individual and group coaching. With up to 80 horses on site, no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining equestrian facilities, including general yard maintenance and care to ensure the smooth running of the site
  • Providing daily coaching (individual and group)
  • Promoting a positive, healthy, and safe equestrian environment
  • Supervising and mentoring students
  • Riding and schooling horses
  • Supporting students at competitions

Opportunities:

  • Gain your Class 4 truck licence (Class 2 or above is an advantage)
  • Work towards ESNZ Coaching qualifications and train under an elite-level coach
  • Option to keep your own horse on site - competitive riding is encouraged

 About You:

  • Confident and experienced in handling and managing horses
  • Experienced equestrian coach
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable engaging with students, parents, and staff
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand

You’ll be supported by a professional and experienced team of coaches, vets, and farriers, with plenty of opportunity for personal and professional growth.

With staff changes in our boarding team, we are now looking for the right person to take the reins and continue creating a safe, warm, and inspiring environment for our boarding students.

Days and hours are negotiable during term time, with minimal school holiday time required for planning and professional development.

Boarding Staff – Casual and Part-time Positions Available
 
Term time

Nga Tawa Diocesan School is a special character boarding and day school in Marton for girls in Years 9 - 13. For over 131 years, we’ve helped young women discover their passions and grow into confident, capable individuals

Nga Tawa is looking for caring and committed people to join our boarding team. We are seeking casual staff to work evening and weekend shifts during term time, as well as a staff member to cover three overnight sleepover shifts each week.

Our boarding team ensures that our girls feel safe, supported, and cared for while they are away from home. Boarding staff play a vital role in creating a calm, reassuring environment, while also being ready to respond if students need assistance.

This role could suit someone who is studying, working part-time, or looking for meaningful work with young people. Training and support are provided, with opportunities to work towards professional boarding qualifications through the New Zealand Boarding Schools’ Association.
