Nga Tawa Diocesan School is seeking a dynamic and committed Director of Boarding to embrace the operation of the boarding department at our special character school.
As an all-girls school for students in years 9-13, Nga Tawa offers a culture and environment in which girls can be girls and grow up at their own pace.
Our Director of Boarding plays an instrumental role in providing a home away from home.
The majority of Nga Tawa’s 200 students board. Being a small school is one of our great strengths because it allows us to know each of our girls as they make the transformation into young adults. With a 100% NCEA pass rate across the board in 2016 and 2017, and 100% at Levels 2 and 3 in 2018, we believe our academic results speak volumes of the nurturing environment we provide.
The welfare of teenage girls is the central focus of this role, supporting and guiding them through a significant life transition. The position also offers strategic leadership and management, assuming responsibility for the boarding staff team. We’re looking for someone with energy and vision to build on the existing cohesive and homely team environment.
Flexibility, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an understanding of cultural diversity, is essential. Those with teaching, nursing or counselling backgrounds would be well suited to the role.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 1.30pm – 10.30pm. With only one in four weekends on call, weekends are your own. On-site accommodation is included as part of an attractive remuneration package.
