School Chaplain

Nga Tawa Diocesan School is a special character boarding and day school for girls in Year 9 - 13. For over 131 years, we’ve helped young women discover their passions and grow into confident, capable individuals. At the heart of our school is our Anglican faith, which shapes who we are and what we do.

Our current Chaplains have been encouraged by the Wellington Diocese to explore Parish Ministry and have accepted a call to be Co-Vicars, creating an exciting opportunity for a new Chaplain to join our school community. We’re looking for a School Chaplain to enhance our Anglican character and support the spiritual wellbeing of our students, staff, and wider school community. This is a flexible role, with approximately 20 hours per week dedicated to chaplaincy. The role includes:

There are a few options as to how this role can be structured. The chaplain element of the role is approximately 20 hours a week. There are up to 40 hours available if you are able to teach our Religious Education programme. This programme is well-developed, offering students from Years 9 to 13 meaningful opportunities to engage with Christian values, reflect on their faith, and explore its relevance in today’s world. There is also the possibility to share the role across two positions as we are currently doing.

Ordination is not a requirement, as you will have support from the Priest in Charge at our local parish, St Stephen’s. However, we are happy to support you in an ordination journey.

Onsite accommodation is available.

We’re looking for someone who is approachable, inspiring, and motivated to nurture the spiritual growth of our students. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
